Frequently Asked Questions

 Questions about the Acceleration Co-op.

For potential acceleratees

Some people don't. If you have recruited and run a business advisory Board before, and know how to find the right, "best in the world" people to recruit, and have a business that is sexy enough to attract them, then you might not need our help.

We notice that the vast majority of businesses that would benefit from an advisory board either don't have one or have one made up of the wrong sort of people. We designed the Virtual Advisory Board (VAB) approach for these businesses.

  • Don't be limited to your geography. Our reach is global;
  •  Get guidance on what skill sets will help your business most, and how to assemble and manage an effective VAB;
  •  Get access to the entire Acceleration Co-op expert community, as well as a core Advisory Board.

Not everyone does. You might not need our help if you run a technology transfer program or investment portfolio, and already have access to a network of global luminaries you can consult to get a read about which new ideas are likely to be well received by the market, and which are not. And never find yourself thinking "if only I could get some inputs from someone who really understands this market."

For members

Here are the instructions for upgrading your membership to a gold premium interaction package. You can see the pricing for all premium packages here.

  1. Sign in as a member. You need your username and password, and you login here. (Note: if you are not yet a member, you register to become a member here).
  2. After logging in, go to the gold premium interaction packages page.
  3. If you are logged in you will see a "Buy Now" button in the middle of the page. Click on this and it will ask you for your payment details etc.

If you have any questions or problems please contact us.

  • You will automatically earn participation points if you use the "Invite colleagues link" (on the left of the page, once you are logged in) to invite your colleague by email, and your invitee uses the link in that email to click onto the site and signup.
  • Once you become a participating member, you will also find a link on your "My account" page that you can use in your own email or on a website to refer members.
  • While you are welcome to use other methods to send new members to the site, you will only get participation points if your invitee comes to the site by one of these links, as we do not have the manpower to manually match you and your referred member.

Follow these steps. You need to be an expert member to do this.

  1. Contact us and ask for the perspective feature to be enabled in your account. (FREE)
  2. Add a brief sentence or two about the topic you would like to tackle, so you and we can make sure before you spend time on it that the topic is suitable for the website. We are looking for pithy insights into topics relating to your expertise, or to the focus of the site on helping businesses tackle new challenges.
  3. After the "perspective" feature is enabled, you will get an email with further instructions.
  4. NOTE: Perspectives can be read by the public, who can also view and make comments.
If you have any questions you can reply to this email, or use the contact from on the site.
  5. When you are happy with your post, you can submit it. It goes into moderation and our editor will ping you with comments or suggestions or just to tell you it has gone live.
  6. You can read it on the Perspectives page.

First, your account needs to have the Perspective option enabled. If you want to have that done, just send us an email.
To start creating your perspective, once your account has been enabled, you:

  1. Login to the site.
  2. Look in the lefthand menu under "Create general content" for the link titled "Perspective".
  3. Click on that link and it should open a screen that lets you start writing.
  4. Once you are happy, click "submit"
  5. After you click submit the perspective goes into a queue to be moderated. It cannot be viewed by the public yet.
  6. The editor reads it, makes any comments that seem called for. You decide what changes, if any, to make.
  7. The editor "publishes" your perspective and the world can view it.

Remember, Perspectives can be viewed by the world and not just by Acceleration Co-op members.

If you become a participating member you are eligible to earn fees that are proportional to how active you are in the Acceleration Co-op community.

By default, you get one email a week from the site with a list of new posts. You can change this at any time in your account settings.

Change what type of posts you get notified about:
Go to the My account page. Select Notifications from the list of links across the top of the page. On the Notifications page, select Subscriptions. You will see a set of subscriptions to content like "private circle dialogs" and "member forum topic". You can set any of these to inactive, and that content type will no longer appear in the periodic email notification.

Change frequency of emails:
If you edit the individual subscription (see above), you can change the frequency from "weekly" to various other options (eg "daily"). You can inactivate it or turn it off too. If you inactivate all content types you will get no email at all.

When you register you can choose whether or not you wish to be on our newsletter mailing list, and you can also sign up in a box on the left of most pages on the site. If you subsequently want to turn this off, just go to your My account page, select Edit, and uncheck the Signup checkbox under the heading Newsletter.

Only if you want them to. By default, other members can not contact you. However if you want to be contacted, you can enable the advisor connections feature in your account.

Yes. At any time you can tell us you wish to resign and we will immediately terminate your membership.

We will delete all personal data from the fields on your "My account" page if you ask us to (by sending a request using the contact form), so that information will no longer be viewable by other members or the public. Posts you have made in discussions, blogs, perspectives etc. will stay in the database and continue to be viewable. Data you entered in the "My account" page will continue to be stored in backups and other archives, but access to these records will be restricted and subject to our privacy policy.
