Terminating Premium Interaction Business Model

As of October 1st, 2011 it will no longer be possible to purchase a premium interaction privilege. Any members who have outstanding premium memberships after Oct. 1 will be entitled to a proportional refund. We may or may not start these premium memberships up again in the future or replace them with something else. It's not yet clear.

The ability to interact with the experts, that previously required premium privileges, will simply not be available for acceleratee members from Oct 1st.

Status of Acceleration Co-op

The volume of traffic and the new member signups have dropped off to almost nothing over the summer. The likely reasons and conclusions we draw from that are discussed in a post mortem post which you can read here (members only). But, the bottom line is that the current model for Acceleration Co-op is not working.

On the other hand, the experiments we have been running suggest strongly two things.

  1. This is a very effective platform for engaging a crowd of experts and a "client" that wants help from the crowd, if both the experts and the crowd are motivated to participate.
  2. We have attracted a really impressive group of 80+ expert members who have sufficient interest to sign up. And some of them have been very interested and willing to participate in a very significant way.

So, I am currently wondering if there is a different approach or a different business model that might leverage what we have created. I am open to any ideas, so if you have any please let us know.

If you have any ideas, or want to discuss, I would love to talk further. Contact me here.
